About Bodmin Information Centre

With so many attractions, walks, events and leisure activities to do in the Bodmin area, it will be difficult to decide what to do first.

Bodmin itself is abundant with history as it is Cornwall's historic county town which is reflected in what's on offer such as Bodmin Jail, the Courtroom Experience and the Town Museum.  Cornwall's Regimental Museum , housed in the imposing Victorian Bodmin Keep, tells the story of the county's military history including World Wars 1 & 2. Bodmin and Wenford Railway reminds you of times gone by as the train chuffs through the beautiful, surrounding countryside of Bodmin.  Furthermore, the town's parish Church, St Petroc's, is the largest in Cornwall and is well worth a visit as well as the many concerts and the annual Christmas Tree Festival that are held here.

On the outskirts of the town there are two grand country houses with beautiful grounds to explore, Lanhydrock (National Trust) and the lovely Georgian house of Pencarrow which is still owned and lived in by the same family to this day.

For those who love the great outdoors, there are plenty of walking and cycling opportunities.  Bodmin is the start of the Camel Trail which is a 28 mile cycling track which is almost completely flat!  The Saints Way also passes nearby the town and is a coast to coast route from Padstow to Fowey.  As well as this Bodmin Moor lies to the north east of Bodmin and is full of rambling walks up the granite tors of this wild landscape.  Rough Tor near Camelford is particularly stunning and on a clear day you can see all the way to the north Cornish coast.
